Hello world!

2 09 2009

First off I’d like to thank everyone that’s been in touch with me regarding bringing the shell back to life, it makes me happy to know that former members, old friends, and people I don’t even know were so affected by it.

Obviously, Infusion is no longer active. Bor and I bought a house in the spring of this year that was in dire need of fixing up and no longer had the time to run the shell. We are now both informally retired from FFXI and most members of Infusion have scattered across other servers. I left the website and forums alive so that everyone can keep in touch and check in from time to time. We plan to become semi-active in game again come winter of this year.

Now, for those who have asked, it is highly unlikely (granted that doesn’t mean impossible) that we will return to lead the shell in FFXI. However, there’s a very distinct possibility given the interest in the shell that we have garnered since it shut down, that we will re-start it under the same name in FFXIV, be it guild, linkshell, whatever. We will plan to maintain a group of 20 or so members once more, less if possible since we don’t exactly know game mechanics yet.

I have disabled public posting on our forums to avoid any spam, but if you would like to get in touch with me, feel free to register on the forums and send me a PM. I check in every few days. Otherwise stay tuned in the future for periodic updates as to what’s going on with the shell.

Again, thanks for your continued support, it means a lot to us.

Alive and kicking

27 01 2009

A brief post to say that we are still here and going strong. We chose to lay low and not participate in the witch hunt on Bluegartr, although I will admit that I, as well as many of my members, were glued to it for a period of 3 days.

We have unfortunately suffered a few losses, and to those people who are now gone for good, we feel for you. The FFXI community as a whole suffered the loss of quite a few truly great players, across all servers. It hits hardest closest to home however, and so to those on Asura, and especially within my own LS, I offer my heartfelt apologies for your devotion, time, and work that you have put in over the years. To those of you who chose not to return, I hope that you enjoy your time away from this addiction, and please pop in to say hi when you can find the time.

As a result of these unfortunate events, we have reopened applications, and are looking for 2-3 more members. Please see our forums for more details.

We will be back to our regularly scheduled programming this week.

Technical Interlude

17 12 2008

I would like to take a break from our regularly scheduled hot-and-sexy lewt posts, to bring you a technical update for the website. You may or may not have noticed a new link up top there titled “Members Area.”

First off I have to give my sincere thanks to Soup, Eminence’s retired leader. He was gracious enough to give me both the backbone code from Eminence’s website and several nights’ worth of help with the project itself. I’m sure he enjoyed my random cussing as I broke page after page, because he didn’t simply write the code for me, he actually taught me how to understand a lot of it, and ultimately start to write it myself.

So, with my newfound knowledge (lol) of PHP, I’ve since modified the back-end of the Eminence website for use by Infusion members. For those of you who were not in Eminence, some of the neat features include:

Daily attendance tracking & on-the-fly administration
Full member profiles including Jobs, Crafts, Missions, Assaults, etc
Full record of what dropped to who, and when
LS Bank management
& more…

Gratuitous screenshots:

All I can post without giving away many secrets. Yes.

I would also like to add while I’m on the non-lewt topic, that we’re looking for 2-3 more well-rounded players to fill out our (nearly complete) roster before we close down our application section. If you’re interested, head on over to the forums and let us know.
